This is an eye catching and ornate, antique estate diamond, cameo and 14K white gold ring sitting 1/4 inch (7.6 MM) above the finger, measuring 7/8 inch (23 MM) long. The ring is four prong set with a rectangular hand carved cameo. As early as 1805, craftsmen began using shell for cameos because it was easily carved due to its many layers, as compared to onyx or agate. Designs throughout history include many subjects. But, the most common of all is that of a noble Romanesque maiden with classic features, Roman dress, jewelry and intricately, often floral embellished hair. This cameo features a woman of stature and displays the finest of details visible in her hair, clothing, floral accents and facial features. She wears a white gold necklace, prong set with a natural, genuine, untreated .02CT round old mine cut diamond of K color and SI1 clarity with no chips or cracks. The ring is highly detailed and nicely made with an intricate filigree gallery for height, structure and finished look with crisp and distinct millgrain edge designs. It is marked, tested and guaranteed 14K and has been professionally cleaned and brightly polished. The ring is for a smaller finger, being a size 4 1/2 and weighs 4.2 grams. 28102
